Senior Art + Design Show Exhibition

April 15, 2019

On Tuesday, April 16, graduating seniors of Northwest Nazarene University’s Art + Design Department will be exhibiting their work in the North and South Friesen Galleries. Ian Rohnert, Kristen Stevens, Kristianna Geiter, Mario Christie, Morgan Baxter, Trent Emerson, Emily Hammons, Ellery Pearson and Meg Potter will be showing a culmination of their undergraduate careers through these exhibits.

The North Gallery will showcase fine artwork from Ian, Kristen, Kristianna and Mario. Ian will be displaying his nature and wildlife photography, which features nature and wildlife that is native to Idaho in a color schematic format. Kristen’s work reveals some of her portrait photography as she wants to continue lifestyle photography after school. These unique portraits show how colored smoke bombs can help express emotion in an image. Kristianna’s work expresses architectural texture in a non-traditional fashion. As a double major in studio art and marketing, her time has been split between NNU’s Helstrom Business Center and the Fine Arts Building. She has experienced both old and new architecture and grown to love the quirks of each style. Mario is a graphic designer who specializes in the creation of illustrations. His illustrations feature portraits of family, friends and public figures who have inspired him.

The South Gallery will feature graphic design work from Ian, Morgan, Trent, Emily, Ellery and Meg. Each of these students have learned to create a variety of design pieces ranging from branding, apparel design, packaging, screen printing, magazines, posters and more. Over the past four years, the students have cultivated traditional art and design skills, then polished them for digital and print purposes that meet professional standards of today's graphic designer.

The reception will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on April 16 in the Friesen Galleries in the NNU Brandt Center. If you are not able to attend the reception, the art will be displayed from April 16 to May 11, 2019. This event is free and open to the public.
