Ten new faculty members have joined Northwest Nazarene University this fall. Our campus welcomes librarians, several professors and a new ROTC director.
Sheryll Hampton joined our wonderful Learning Commons faculty as an assistant librarian. Her alma mater is NNU where she received her BA in liberal studies, after which she earned her MLIS at San Jose State University School of Information. She lives with her husband, Jody, and enjoys reading and gym climbing.
The Department of Nursing added Linda Valenzuela as an associate professor of nursing. She is currently working on her DNP from BSU. She has an MS in nursing education from Western Governors University, an MA in public health from Portland State University, a BS in nursing from California State University, and an ADN from the College of Sequoias. She has four children and a husband named Jerry. When she’s not busy earning degrees, she spends her downtime reading, taking long walks and gardening.
NNU welcomes our new lecturer in innovation, Maureen Seidel, who has a BA in elementary education from NNU, where she met her husband, Brian Seidel. She has three children and her hobbies include cake decorating, thrift shopping and various outdoor activities.
Joining our faculty is Janet Stellway, who will be an assistant professor of social work. She has a BA in social work, an MSW in management planning, and is working on a doctorate for educational leadership in building administration. She has accomplished all of this at NNU. She and her husband, Dick, have two children, and Janet’s favorite pastimes are cooking, eating and learning.
Dana Davenport has joined our campus as an assistant professor of innovation in education. She earned her BA in elementary education at NNU and received her M.Ed. at City University in Tacoma, Washington. Dana loves to spend her time singing, traveling and baking. She and her husband, Kirt, have two daughters.
Bethany Haglund is our new assistant professor of NNU Online services. She has both a BA in history and an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from NNU. Her favorite things to do are reading, traveling and creative writing.
Captain Mark R. Bonaudi joins our faculty as the director of ROTC. He received a BA in organizational management at Northwest University and an MBA at Trident University. He and his wife, Shanna, have four children who all reside in Washington.
Rodney Birch has been hired as a librarian in the Learning Commons. He earned his BA at Vennard College and his MISLT at the University of Missouri. He recently received his Ed.D. from Olivet University. He and his wife, Christine, have three children. He loves spending time with his family camping and playing games.
Stephan Morgan comes to NNU as an assistant professor of world history. He has earned a B.A. in history and English education at Anderson University, an MA in history at the University of Alabama, and a Ph.D. in European history at the University of Notre Dame. His favorite novelist is Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and he also loves to camp, travel and bake bread.
NNU welcomes Vice President for Academic Affairs S. Bradley Kurtz-Shaw. He graduated from Greenville College with a BA in English and religion. He then earned both his MA in English and a Ph.D. in American literature at the University of Illinois. He and his wife, Georgann, enjoy cycling and eating ice cream.
