Northwest Nazarene University’s Crusader Choir & Orchestra will present “Great Hymns of Our Faith” on April 23 at 7 p.m. in the NNU Brandt Center. A piano prelude by renowned concert pianist Jerry Nelson begins at 6:30 p.m.
The concert will feature inspiring hymn performances from the 100-member Crusader Choir & Orchestra, creative piano arrangements from NNU alumnus Jerry Nelson, and a hymn sing-along from the fresh new hymnal release, “One Voice,” led by Nelson and guest artist Johnny Hall.
Nelson is an internationally-known concert pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and studio producer, gifted with a wide spectrum of styles. He spent 10 years recording with London and Tel-Aviv Orchestras before founding his own recording studio. Credited with production of over 500 recording projects, 5,000+ arrangements and several published musicals, Nelson is also considered the originator of accompaniment tracks. On stage he has played with artists such as Dino, Anthony Burger, Glen Campbell, Sandi Patti, Tom Netherton and Steve Amerson.
The “One Voice” hymnal is a new release that includes some of the most beloved hymns and gospel songs from across the evangelical spectrum. “One Voice” hymnals will be available for use during the hymn sing-along and can then be purchased at the end of the concert if desired.
